TAX ASSESSOR AND COLLECTOR

Samuel "Sam" Yeager

Tax Assessor and Collector

A 2007 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy, Sam has over thirteen years of experience providing accounting and business administration services in a variety of settings from public accounting firms to private and not-for-profit entities. In his most recent position as Senior Accountant for one of Mississippi’s largest healthcare systems, he is responsible for the daily oversight and management of financial and budgetary issues within the organization. This includes large-scale collaboration with system departments, collation of system wide financial information, and disbursement of that information both clearly and transparently to system administrators for financial and operational decision making, all of which are skills that translate completely to the office of Tax Assessor and Collector.

Throughout his career, Sam has consistently demonstrated a dedication to accuracy, integrity, and fairness. He has the necessary experience, education, and administrative background to effectively and efficiently serve Smith County as Tax Assessor and Collector. As an accountant and businessman, Sam also fully understands the challenges Smith County faces economically. Because of this, he is committed to putting his experience to use by working closely with other local, state, and national leaders to prepare for, promote, and influence the growth of industry and economic development within the county.

Sam resides in the Shongelo community just north of Raleigh with his wife of sixteen years, Kacie Jones Yeager, and their three sons Kemp, Witt, and Jones Yeager. They are active member of First Baptist Church Raleigh where Sam currently serves as Chair of Deacons.  Committed to raising their boys here, Sam and Kacie are personally invested in the future successes of Smith County.
